Sebastian River - South Prong
Another glorious Florida morning for a Paddle
Not a cloud in the sky as we set out to paddle the South Prong of the Sebastian River
My neighbor, Richard, leads the way
The water is warmer than the air hence the surreal ground cloud effect
Sebastian River features many bends and turns
Sebastian River features "black water" with essentially zero visibility
A few folks live on the river but most of the surrounding area is a preserve
Wide variety of trees showing the effects of recent cold weather and wind events
Beautiful shorelines are home to many animals - especially alligators
A heron and duck are spooked as we approach
Many forms of herons, cormorants and other water fowl are common sites

Low stress morning!
Sebastian River is a relatively easy paddle suitable for novices
Richard recently purchased his 14.5 foot sit-in Perception kayak

The river begins to narrow as you progress south
As the river narrows, overhangs and submerged logs require nimble maneuvering
I hope that's not banjo music I'm hearing!
